1 pound ground beef

4 slices of beef bacon

1 medium onion, finely chopped

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

4 hoagie or sub rolls

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato slices, mayonnaise, hot sauce

Instructions
 

In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

    Add the beef bacon to the skillet and cook until crispy. Once done, remove the bacon and set aside, keeping the grease in the pan.

      In the same skillet, add the ground beef. Season with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.

        Once the beef is cooked through, combine it with the sautéed onion and add the cooked beef bacon, chopping everything together in the skillet until well mixed.

          Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the beef mixture, allowing it to melt for about 2-3 minutes. Stir until the cheese is thoroughly incorporated and the filling is gooey.

            Cut the hoagie rolls lengthwise, not all the way through, to create a pocket for the filling.

              Evenly distribute the cheesy beef mixture into each hoagie roll.
