Ingredients

1 pound ground chicken

1 cup ricotta cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (Italian seasoned preferred)

1 large egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

2 cups marinara sauce

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Mix the Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix gently until just combined; avoid overmixing to keep the meatballs tender.

Form the Meatballs: With your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs about 1.5 inches in diameter and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spaced apart.

Bake the Meatballs: Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until they are cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F/74°C) and lightly browned on the outside.

Prepare the Marinara Sauce: While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat until warmed through.

Combine Meatballs and Sauce: Once the meatballs are done, gently transfer them to the saucepan with the marinara sauce. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Serve: Serve the meatballs hot, garnished with fresh basil leaves, over spaghetti, on a sub roll, or on their own as an appetizer.
