Ingredients

4 pork sausages (or your favorite sausage)

4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed

1/2 cup milk

4 tablespoons butter

Salt and pepper to taste

2 large onions, thinly sliced

1 tablespoon brown sugar

2 cups beef broth

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Potatoes: In a large pot, add the cubed potatoes and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil over medium heat. Cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

Cook the Sausages: While the potatoes are cooking, heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the sausages and cook until browned and cooked through, about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking. Once done, remove them from the skillet and set aside.

Caramelize the Onions: In the same skillet, add sliced onions with a pinch of salt. Cook on low heat for about 10 minutes, until the onions begin to soften. Sprinkle in the brown sugar and continue to cook for another 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions are a deep golden brown.

Make the Gravy: Once the onions are caramelized, add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet. Bring to a simmer and let it reduce for about 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Mash the Potatoes: Drain the cooked potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the milk and butter, then mash until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.

Serve the Dish: Spoon a generous portion of mashed potatoes onto each plate, place the sausages on top, and drizzle with caramelized onion gravy. Garnish with fresh parsley for a pop of color.

Presentation Tips: Serve the dish in a rustic dish or bowl for a traditional look. You can also create a well in the mash for the gravy to sit beautifully like a little pool. Add a sprig of parsley on top for a fresh touch.
