Ingredients

1 lb flank steak, sliced thin against the grain

4 cups broccoli florets

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon sesame oil

3 garlic cloves, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced

3 green onions, chopped (white and green parts separated)

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Optional: Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak, soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Mix well to coat the beef thoroughly and let marinate for at least 15 minutes.

In a large pot of boiling water, blanch the broccoli florets for about 2 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and immediately plunge them into an ice bath to stop the cooking. Drain again and set aside.

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until browned, stirring occasionally. Remove the beef and set aside.

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add minced garlic, ginger, and the white parts of the green onions. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Add the blanched broccoli and the cooked beef back into the skillet. Toss everything together until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste. If the sauce seems thick, you can add a splash of water to loosen it.

Cook everything together for an additional 2 minutes until heated through, then sprinkle with the green parts of the chopped green onions and sesame seeds if using.

Serve immediately over a bed of steamed rice.
