Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 teaspoons paprika

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Shrimp: Pat the shrimp dry with a paper towel to remove any excess moisture. This helps achieve a better sear.

Make the Blackening Spice: In a small bowl, combine paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the spices are evenly combined.

Coat the Shrimp: Place the shrimp in a large mixing bowl. Drizzle olive oil and lemon juice over the shrimp, then sprinkle the blackening spice mixture on top. Toss gently until all the shrimp are coated evenly with the spice mix.

Heat the Pan: Heat a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until it’s very hot—this will take about 3-5 minutes.

Cook the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the hot skillet in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding the pan for an even cook. Cook the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes on one side until they turn a vibrant pink and develop a charred crust. Flip them over and cook for an additional 2 minutes on the other side. Remove from the skillet once cooked.

Serve: Transfer the blackened shrimp to a serving platter. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and an extra squeeze of lemon if desired.

              Prep Time: 10 mins | Total Time: 15 mins | Servings: 4

                - Presentation Tips: Serve the blackened shrimp on a colorful platter with lemon wedges and a side of your choice, such as rice or a fresh garden salad, for a vibrant and appealing meal.
