Ingredients

1 pound breakfast sausage (mild or spicy, as per your preference)

1 package (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/4 cup diced green onions (optional)

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the breakfast sausage. Cook and crumble until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess grease and season with salt and pepper.

Prepare Crescent Dough: Open the package of crescent roll dough and unroll it on a clean surface. Separate the triangles along the perforated lines.

Assemble the Rolls: Place a spoonful of the cooked sausage at the wide end of each crescent triangle. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese and a few pieces of diced green onions if using.

Roll Them Up: Starting from the wide end, carefully roll each crescent triangle toward the pointy end, enclosing the sausage and cheese mixture. Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Apply Egg Wash: Brush the top of each crescent roll with the beaten egg. This will give them a beautiful golden color when baked.

Bake the Rolls: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Cool and Serve: Remove the baking sheet from the oven, and let the rolls cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm!
