Ingredients

4 large buttery croissants

200g thinly sliced ham (such as honey or smoked)

150g shredded Gruyère cheese

50g unsalted butter, softened

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

Slice each croissant in half lengthwise, creating a top and bottom.

In a small bowl, mix the softened butter and Dijon mustard until well combined.

Spread a generous layer of the butter-mustard mixture on the inside of each croissant.

Layer slices of ham on the bottom half of each croissant, followed by an even sprinkle of shredded Gruyère cheese.

Season with freshly ground black pepper for added flavor.

Close each croissant with its top half, gently pressing down to secure the fillings.

Place the assembled croissants on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the croissants are golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let them cool for a minute before slicing in half and serving.

Garnish with chopped fresh chives for a pop of color and freshness.

                        Prep Time: 10 minutes | Total Time: 22 minutes | Servings: 4

                          - Presentation Tips: Serve the croissants on a wooden board or a nice platter, with a small bowl of extra Dijon mustard on the side for dipping. You can also sprinkle some additional chives on top for an elegant touch.
