Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 tbsp baking powder

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp salt

1/4 cup cold butter, cubed

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup milk

1/2 cup melted butter (for swimming)

Fresh chopped chives for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, garlic powder, and salt. Whisk until well mixed.

Add the cubed cold butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.

Gradually pour in the milk, mixing gently until just combined and forming a soft dough. Avoid overmixing to maintain tenderness.

In a 9x13-inch baking dish, pour in the melted butter, ensuring the base is fully coated.

Using a spoon or cookie scoop, drop spoonfuls of dough into the baking dish, spacing them out evenly. The biscuits will swim in the melted butter during baking.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and the biscuits are cooked through.

Once done, remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Garnish with chopped chives if desired before serving.
