The inspiration for Chipotle Salmon comes from the rich culinary traditions of Latin America, where the use of chipotle—a smoked jalapeño pepper—adds depth and a distinctive smoky flavor to various dishes. Chipotle is revered for its ability to enhance the taste of proteins, making it a popular choice for seafood, especially salmon. Salmon itself has long been a staple in coastal cuisines, celebrated for its versatility and health benefits.

Ingredients

For the Chipotle Salmon:

4 salmon fillets (6 oz each)

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons honey

1 tablespoon chipotle powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

Juice of 1 lime

For the Mango Avocado Salsa:

1 ripe mango, diced

1 ripe avocado, diced

1 small red onion, finely chopped

1 jalapeño, seeded and minced (optional for heat)

1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Juice of 2 limes

Salt to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Chipotle Marinade:

In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, honey, chipotle powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and lime juice.

      Marinate the Salmon:

Place salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour the chipotle marinade over them, ensuring they’re well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

          Make the Mango Avocado Salsa:

In a mixing bowl, combine the diced mango, avocado, red onion, jalapeño, and cilantro. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the mixture and season with salt. Gently toss everything to combine. Cover and set aside to allow the flavors to meld.

              Cook the Salmon:

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the salmon from the marinade, letting excess drip off. Place the salmon skin-side down on the grill or in the skillet. Grill or pan-sear for about 4-6 minutes on each side, until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.

                  Serve:

Plate the grilled salmon and top generously with the mango avocado salsa. Serve with lime wedges on the side for an added zesty touch.
