Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 medium onion, diced

1 green bell pepper, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

4 slices American cheese (or your favorite cheese)

4 hoagie rolls

1/4 cup mayonnaise

1 tablespoon hot sauce (optional)

Lettuce and tomato for garnish

Instructions

In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of oil over medium-high heat. Add the diced onions and green bell pepper, sautéing until they soften (about 3-4 minutes).

Add the minced garlic and continue cooking for another minute, stirring often to prevent burning.

Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned and fully cooked through (about 6-8 minutes).

Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper, mixing well to combine all flavors.

Create a space in the middle of the skillet and place the cheese slices on top of the cooked meat mixture. Let the cheese melt for 2-3 minutes.

While the cheese is melting, slice the hoagie rolls open lengthwise without cutting all the way through.

Once the cheese is melted, thoroughly combine the beef and cheese mixture before spooning it generously into each hoagie roll.

Spread mayonnaise on the inside of the hoagie rolls and drizzle with hot sauce (if using). Add lettuce and tomato slices on top.
