Ingredients

1 medium green cabbage, chopped

1 lb ground beef

1 onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, with juice

1 cup beef broth

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon dried oregano

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 cup cooked rice (optional, for added heartiness)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until they become translucent.

Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until it’s browned. Use a spatula to break it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.

Stir in the chopped cabbage, diced tomatoes (with juice), beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. If using rice, add it here as well. Mix everything until well combined.

Allow the mixture to simmer for about 5-7 minutes, until the cabbage starts to soften.

Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese generously over the top of the casserole.

Cover the dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

After 25 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

                      Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 55 minutes | Servings: 6

                        - Presentation Tips: Serve the casserole hot, garnished with fresh parsley or chives for a splash of color. Pair with crusty bread for a complete comforting meal.
