Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

4 slices of American cheese

4 hamburger buns (preferably brioche)

4 tbsp mayonnaise

4 tbsp Dijon mustard

4 tbsp sweet pickle relish

1 cup shredded lettuce

1 large tomato, sliced

1/2 red onion, thinly sliced

Dill pickles for topping (optional)

Cooking oil for toasting buns

Instructions

Prepare the Beef Patties: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Form the mixture into 4 equal patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cook the Patties: Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Add a little cooking oil to the pan if necessary. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip them and place a slice of American cheese on top of each one. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the burgers are cooked to your desired doneness.

Toast the Buns: While the burgers are cooking, toast the hamburger buns in a separate pan with a little oil until golden brown and crispy.

Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and sweet pickle relish to create a tasty sauce.

Assemble the Burgers: Start by spreading the sauce on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Layer on the shredded lettuce, a slice of tomato, a few rings of red onion, and the cooked burger patty with melted cheese. Add dill pickles on top if desired. Close with the top bun.

Serve: Serve the burgers immediately while warm with your favorite side dishes, such as fries or onion rings.
