Ingredients
  

2 large apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons sugar

1 egg

1 cup breadcrumbs (panko works great)

Cooking spray

Optional: caramel sauce for dipping

Prepare the Apples: Wash and core the apples. Slice them into thin wedges, about 1/4-inch thick. You can choose to peel the apples or leave the skin on for added texture.

    Set Up Breading Station: In a shallow bowl, mix the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and sugar. In another bowl, beat the egg. Place the breadcrumbs in a third bowl.

      Coat the Apple Wedges: Dip each apple slice in the flour mixture, shaking off the excess, then into the beaten egg, and finally coat them in breadcrumbs, pressing lightly to adhere.

        Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.

          Arrange in Air Fryer: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the breaded apple fries in a single layer in the basket, making sure not to overcrowd. You may have to do it in batches.

            Air Fry: Spray the tops of the apple fries lightly with cooking spray. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy. Keep an eye on them to avoid burning.

              Serve: Once done, remove from the air fryer and let them cool slightly. Serve warm, with caramel sauce on the side for dipping if desired.
