Ingredients

1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed

6 slices of deli ham

6 slices of cheddar cheese

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon dried thyme or Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to smooth any creases, and then cut it into 4 equal squares.

Take one square of puff pastry, and spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard over it.

Place a slice of ham on top of the mustard, followed by a slice of cheddar cheese.

If desired, sprinkle a pinch of dried thyme or Italian seasoning over the cheese for added flavor, and season with salt and pepper.

Place another square of puff pastry on top to create a stack and press down gently to seal the edges.

Repeat steps 3 to 6 with the remaining squares, ham, and cheese to create a total of 4 stacks.

Brush the tops of the pastry stacks with the beaten egg to give them a golden color when baked.

Bake in the preheated oven for 18-22 minutes or until they are puffed and golden brown.

Once baked, remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 40 minutes | Servings: 4 stacks
