Ingredients

1.5 lbs beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced

1 large onion, sliced

1 large green bell pepper, sliced

1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup beef broth

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

4 hoagie rolls or sub rolls

8 slices provolone cheese or Cheez Whiz

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prep the Meat: In a bowl, season the thinly sliced steak with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.

Layer Ingredients: In the bottom of the crockpot, layer the sliced onions, bell peppers, mushrooms (if using), and minced garlic.

Add the Steak: Place the seasoned steak on top of the vegetable layer.

Mix the Liquids: In a separate bowl, combine beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce. Stir well and pour over the steak and vegetables in the crockpot.

Cook: Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours until the beef is tender.

Prepare the Rolls: About 30 minutes before serving, slice the hoagie rolls and place them in a 350°F (175°C) oven for about 5-10 minutes to lightly toast.

Assemble the Sandwiches: Once the beef mixture is cooked, stir to combine. Use tongs to fill each toasted roll with the beef and vegetable mixture. Top with 2 slices of provolone cheese or a generous amount of Cheez Whiz.

Melt the Cheese: For extra melted goodness, you can place the assembled sandwiches back in the oven for a couple of minutes to melt the cheese.

Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle fresh parsley on top and serve immediately with chips or a side salad.
