Ingredients

8 slices of brioche or challah bread

6 slices of ham (preferably smoked or honey-glazed)

6 slices of Gruyère cheese (or Swiss cheese)

5 large eggs

2 cups milk

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

Arrange 4 slices of brioche in a single layer at the bottom of the baking dish.

Layer 3 slices of ham evenly over the bread, then top with 3 slices of Gruyère cheese.

Add another layer of the remaining 4 slices of brioche on top of the cheese.

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.

Pour the egg mixture evenly over the assembled casserole, ensuring all the bread is soaked. Press down gently with a spatula to ensure the bread absorbs the liquid.

Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese on top of the casserole.

Cover the casserole dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden and the egg is set.

Once baked, allow the casserole to cool for 5 minutes then garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.
