Ingredients

12 mozzarella cheese sticks

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Cooking oil (for frying)

Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

Prep the Cheese: Start by unwrapping the mozzarella sticks and placing them on a baking sheet. Freeze the cheese sticks for at least 30 minutes to an hour. This helps them hold their shape during frying.

Set Up Breading Stations: In three separate shallow bowls, set up your breading station: one for flour, one for beaten eggs, and the last for a mixture of breadcrumbs, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.

Coat the Cheese Sticks: Remove the frozen mozzarella sticks from the freezer. Take one cheese stick, roll it in the flour, shaking off the excess. Then dip it into the beaten eggs, letting any excess drip off. Finally, coat the stick with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere. Repeat with all cheese sticks.

Chill Again: Once all cheese sticks are breaded, place them back on the baking sheet and chill in the freezer for another 15-20 minutes. This step enhances the chance of achieving crispy results.

Fry the Mozzarella Sticks: In a large, deep skillet or pot, heat about 2 inches of cooking oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Carefully add a few mozzarella sticks at a time, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking.

Drain Excess Oil: Using a slotted spoon, remove the cooked mozzarella sticks and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.

Serve: Plate the mozzarella sticks with a small bowl of marinara sauce on the side for dipping. Serve hot for the best melty goodness!
