To make a great garlic shrimp gratin, start with fresh shrimp. I recommend using one pound of large shrimp. Always peel and devein the shrimp for the best taste. The shrimp should be firm and pink. This ensures they cook well and absorb all the flavors in the dish.

Ingredients

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

5 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

1 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.

Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant but not browned.

Add the shrimp to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink. Remove from heat and set aside.

In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, half of the Parmesan cheese, paprika, and chopped parsley. Stir until well combined.

In a 9x12-inch baking dish, layer the cooked shrimp evenly across the bottom. Pour the cream mixture over the shrimp.

In a separate bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with the remaining Parmesan cheese and melted butter. Stir until the breadcrumbs are well coated.

Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the shrimp and cream.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until the top is golden and bubbling.

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
