Ingredients

4 large russet potatoes, thinly sliced

2 cups heavy cream

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons butter

1 pound beef cutlets (about 0.5-inch thick)

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon paprika

Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Set aside.

Grease a baking dish with 1 tablespoon of butter. Layer half of the sliced potatoes on the bottom, then pour half of the cream mixture over them. Sprinkle half of the cheddar cheese on top.

Repeat with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and finish with the remaining cheese, making sure the top layer is well covered with cheese.

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. After 45 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is golden and bubbly.

While the potatoes are baking, season the beef cutlets on both sides with thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper.

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the beef cutlets and sear for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked to your desired doneness.

Remove beef from the skillet and let rest for a couple of minutes.

Slice the beef cutlets and serve alongside the scalloped potatoes, garnished with fresh parsley.
