Ingredients

1 cup dulce de leche

2 cups heavy whipping cream

3 large egg whites

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

A pinch of salt

Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder for garnish

Instructions

In a medium bowl, whip the heavy cream with an electric mixer until soft peaks form, about 2-3 minutes. Be careful not to overwhip. Then add the vanilla extract, mixing just until combined. Set aside.

In a separate clean bowl, whisk the egg whites and a pinch of salt using a handheld mixer until frothy. Gradually add the granulated sugar while continuing to whisk until stiff peaks form (about 5-7 minutes).

In a large bowl, combine the dulce de leche with the whipped cream. Gently fold the whipped cream into the dulce de leche until fully incorporated.

Now gently fold in the beaten egg whites, being careful not to deflate the mixture. Do this in three additions, ensuring everything is well mixed but airy.

Spoon the mousse into individual serving glasses or bowls and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the mousse to set properly.

Before serving, top with chocolate shavings or a dusting of cocoa powder for added texture and visual appeal.
