Ingredients

1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 medium onion, sliced

1 bell pepper (red or green), sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

1 teaspoon sesame oil

Black pepper, to taste

Cooked rice or noodles (for serving)

Green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak, soy sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well to ensure the beef is coated. Let it marinate for about 20-30 minutes while preparing the other ingredients.

Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

Stir-Fry the Beef: Add the marinated beef to the hot skillet in a single layer. Allow it to sear without stirring for about 1-2 minutes. Then, stir-fry until the beef is browned and just cooked through, about 2-3 more minutes. Remove the beef from the skillet and set it aside.

Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the sliced onion, bell pepper, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.

Combine and Flavor: Return the beef to the skillet. Add the oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil. Toss everything together until the sauce coats the beef and vegetables evenly. Season with black pepper to taste.

Serve: Remove from heat and serve the pepper steak hot over cooked rice or noodles. Garnish with chopped green onions for a fresh touch.
