Ingredients

9-12 lasagna noodles (no-boil or regular)

1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage

2 cups ricotta cheese

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 cups marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)

1 large egg

2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

      Cook the Meat:

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or sausage until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain any excess fat. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Remove from heat.

          Prepare Ricotta Mixture:

In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, and half of the grated Parmesan. Mix well and set aside.

              Layer the Lasagna:

In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of marinara sauce at the bottom. Place 3-4 lasagna noodles on top. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by half of the cooked meat, and a layer of marinara sauce. Sprinkle with a third of the mozzarella cheese.

                  Repeat Layers:

Repeat the layering process (noodles, ricotta mixture, meat, marinara sauce, mozzarella) until all ingredients are used, finishing with noodles topped with remaining marinara sauce and the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

                      Cover and Bake:

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil (to prevent sticking, you can spray the foil with cooking spray). Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

                          Uncover and Brown:

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and golden brown.

                              Let It Rest:

Allow the lasagna to rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. This helps the layers set.

                                  Garnish and Serve:

Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
