Ingredients

1 cup dill pickle slices (or spears, if preferred)

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust for heat preference)

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

1 egg

1/2 cup buttermilk (or milk)

1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch is recommended)

Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Optional: ranch dressing or spicy aioli for dipping

Instructions

Prep the Pickles: Drain the dill pickles and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. This will help the coating adhere better.

Make the Breading Station: In a shallow bowl, mix together the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk the egg and buttermilk together until well combined. In a third bowl, place the breadcrumbs.

Coat the Pickles: Dredge each pickle slice in the seasoned flour, shaking off the excess. Dip it in the egg mixture, then coat with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure an even coating.

Heat the Oil: In a deep pan or frying pot, heat oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of bread into it; if it sizzles and browns quickly, it's ready.

Fry the Pickles: Carefully place the coated pickles in the hot oil, in batches if necessary, to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Flip them halfway for even cooking.

Drain the Pickles: Once fried, using a slotted spoon, transfer the pickles to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

Serve: Serve your fried pickles hot with your choice of dipping sauce, such as ranch dressing or spicy aioli. Enjoy the crunch!
