Ingredients

12 oz ground beef

1 cup Italian breadcrumbs

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

1 large egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

Salt and pepper to taste

2 cups marinara sauce

4 sub rolls

4 tablespoons butter, softened

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon dried basil

Mozzarella cheese, shredded for topping

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined, avoiding overmixing.

Form the mixture into 12 meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter.

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the meatballs until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.

In the same skillet, pour in the marinara sauce and let it simmer. Add the browned meatballs to the sauce, cover, and simmer for another 10 minutes until cooked through.

While the meatballs are cooking, prepare the garlic bread. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, garlic powder, basil, and a pinch of salt. Spread this mixture evenly on each side of the sub rolls.

Place the prepared sub rolls cut side up on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown.

To assemble the subs, place 3 meatballs inside each garlic buttered sub roll, then generously top with marinara sauce and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese.

Return the loaded subs to the oven for an additional 3-5 minutes, just until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, then serve warm and enjoy!
