The foundation of any great bread recipe begins with flour, and all-purpose flour is the star of this show. It strikes a perfect balance between protein content and gluten formation, giving the rolls the ideal texture—soft, chewy, and just the right amount of fluffiness. When kneaded, the proteins in the flour develop gluten, enabling the dough to rise beautifully and hold its shape. For the best results, choose a high-quality brand of all-purpose flour to ensure your rolls turn out perfect every time.

Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons instant yeast

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon sugar

1 ½ cups warm milk (about 110°F)

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

4 cloves garlic, minced

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened (for garlic butter)

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Instructions

Activate Yeast: In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and instant yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.

Make Dough: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Create a well in the center, then add the melted butter and the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.

Knead: Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. You can also use a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment.

First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Shape Rolls: Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

Second Rise: Cover the dish with a kitchen towel and let the rolls rise again for about 30 minutes until they puff up.

Preheat Oven: Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, mix softened butter, minced garlic, and garlic powder (if using) until well combined.

Brush and Bake: Brush the tops of the rolls generously with the garlic butter and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown on top.

Garnish: Remove from the oven and brush with any remaining garlic butter. Sprinkle with fresh parsley for an extra touch.

Serve: Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your warm, fluffy garlic butter dinner rolls!
