Ingredients

1 cup orzo pasta

2 cups vegetable or chicken broth

2 tablespoons olive oil

4 garlic cloves, minced

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Zest of 1 lemon

Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

Cook the Orzo: In a medium saucepan, bring the vegetable or chicken broth to a boil. Add the orzo and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually around 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally.

Sauté the Garlic: While the orzo is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Be careful not to let it burn.

Combine Ingredients: Once the orzo is cooked, drain any excess liquid if necessary and add it to the skillet with the sautéed garlic. Stir to combine.

Add Cheese and Seasoning: Add the grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes (if using), and lemon zest to the orzo mixture. Toss everything together until the cheese is melted and the orzo is well coated.

Serve: Divide the garlic Parmesan orzo among serving plates. Garnish with additional parsley and serve with lemon wedges for a fresh twist.
