Ingredients

1 box German chocolate cake mix

1 cup water

1/2 cup vegetable oil

3 large eggs

1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk

1/2 cup shredded coconut

1/2 cup chopped pecans

1 cup chocolate syrup

1 cup whipped cream (or Cool Whip)

Extra coconut and pecans for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the German chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until smooth and well combined.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes. Then, use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the cake (about every 2 inches).

In a separate bowl, mix the sweetened condensed milk, chocolate syrup, shredded coconut, and chopped pecans until well combined.

Pour the mixture over the cake, ensuring it seeps into the holes you've made. Allow the cake to cool completely.

Once cooled, top the cake evenly with whipped cream, spreading it to the edges for a beautiful finish.

Garnish with additional shredded coconut and chopped pecans if desired.

Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
