Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 large eggs

1/2 cup milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

4-5 medium ripe plums, pitted and sliced

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 cup brown sugar (for topping)

Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and combine.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

Arrange the sliced plums on top of the batter, cut side up, pressing them slightly into the mixture.

In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and ground cinnamon; sprinkle this mixture over the plums.

Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the cake is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Let the cake cool completely in the pan before dusting with powdered sugar for serving.
