Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80% lean)

1 small onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp ground cumin

1/2 tsp smoked paprika

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt

1 tbsp olive oil

Pita bread or flatbreads

Fresh vegetables: cucumber, tomato, and red onion, sliced

Feta cheese, crumbled (optional)

Tzatziki sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

Prepare the Beef Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, oregano, cumin, paprika, black pepper, and salt. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.

Cook the Beef: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the beef mixture, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook for about 8-10 minutes or until browned and cooked through. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking.

Warm the Pita: While the beef is cooking, you can warm the pita or flatbreads in a separate skillet over low heat for 2-3 minutes on each side or wrap them in aluminum foil and place them in a warm oven.

Assemble the Gyros: Place a generous portion of the cooked ground beef on the warm pita. Top with slices of cucumber, tomato, and red onion. Add crumbled feta cheese, if desired.

Add Tzatziki: Drizzle with tzatziki sauce to add creaminess and flavor.

Wrap and Serve: Fold the pita in half or wrap it to hold everything together. Serve immediately with extra tzatziki on the side.
