Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon garlic powder

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup diced cooked ham

1 cup buttermilk

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with non-stick spray or butter.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder until evenly combined.

Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and diced ham, mixing until the ham and cheese are well distributed throughout the flour mixture.

Pour in the buttermilk and melted butter, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the batter should be slightly lumpy.

Spoon the batter into the prepared baking dish, ensuring it's evenly spread out. The batter will be thick.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Once baked, remove the dish from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. For added flavor, brush the top with melted butter while it's still warm.

Garnish with freshly chopped chives before serving for a pop of color and flavor.
