Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup diced ham

1 cup buttermilk

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or a light coating of butter.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Whisk together to ensure the dry ingredients are well mixed.

Add the shredded cheddar cheese and diced ham into the flour mixture, stirring gently until the ham and cheese are evenly distributed.

Pour the buttermilk into the dry mixture and stir with a spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; it's okay if the dough is a little lumpy.

In a separate bowl, melt the butter and then pour about 1/4 cup of the melted butter into the bottom of the greased baking dish. Reserve the remaining butter for later.

Using a spoon or a scoop, drop large dollops of the biscuit dough into the baking dish over the melted butter, ensuring the biscuits are spaced slightly apart.

Drizzle the reserved melted butter over the tops of the biscuit dough pieces for extra richness.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.

                      - Presentation Tips: Serve warm, directly from the baking dish, with extra butter on the side for spreading. Garnish with a sprinkle of fresh chives or parsley for a pop of freshness. Enjoy!
