Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup diced cooked ham

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

1 cup milk

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).

Prepare the Baking Dish: Pour the melted butter into a 9x13 inch baking dish, ensuring it evenly coats the bottom.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

Add Cheese and Ham: Gently fold in the shredded cheddar cheese and diced ham until evenly distributed throughout the flour mixture.

Add Wet Ingredients: Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients, then pour in the milk. Fold gently with a spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the batter should be lumpy.

Spoon the Batter: Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit batter over the melted butter in the baking dish. The batter will sink slightly into the butter.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the biscuits are cooked through.

Cool and Serve: Allow the biscuits to cool for a few minutes in the pan before serving. They will be buttery and fluffy!

Prep Time: 10 minutes | Total Time: 30 minutes | Servings: 12 biscuits

                    - Presentation Tips: Serve the biscuits warm in the baking dish, garnished with a sprinkle of fresh chopped herbs like chives or parsley for a pop of color.
