2 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast

1 tsp sugar

1 tsp salt

3/4 cup warm water (about 110°F)

2 tbsp olive oil (plus extra for brushing)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp dried Italian herbs (oregano, basil, or thyme)

Optional: Marinara sauce for dipping

Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

    Prepare Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

      Knead Dough: Lightly flour your work surface and knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, sprinkle a little more flour as needed.

        First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it’s doubled in size.

          Shape Breadsticks: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface to about 1/2-inch thick. Cut into strips about 1 inch wide.

            Add Cheese: Place dough strips on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush melted butter or olive oil over the dough and sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly on top. Add garlic powder and Italian herbs for an extra flavor burst.

              Second Rise: Let the breadsticks sit for about 15-20 minutes to rise slightly.
