Ingredients

1 lb ground beef or turkey

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup ketchup

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon mustard

Salt and pepper to taste

4 large pieces of garlic bread (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Sauté Onions and Garlic: Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the cooked meat and sauté for about 3 minutes until translucent. Then add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Make the Sloppy Joe Filling: Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let it simmer on low heat for about 5 minutes to meld the flavors.

Prepare the Garlic Bread: If using store-bought garlic bread, follow the package instructions for toasting. For homemade, spread softened butter mixed with minced garlic and parsley on each slice, then toast them in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 5-7 minutes until golden.

Assemble the Melts: Preheat your oven to broil. On a baking sheet, place the toasted garlic bread. Spoon a generous amount of the Sloppy Joe mixture on each piece, then sprinkle evenly with shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese.

Broil: Place the baking sheet in the broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned. Keep a close eye to prevent burning!

Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool for a minute. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley for a touch of color.
