1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup honey

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 medium apple, peeled, cored, and diced

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 cup slivered almonds (for topping)

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.

    In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, ground almonds, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

      In a separate large bowl, cream the softened butter and honey until light and fluffy using an electric mixer.

        Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.

          Gradually incorporate the dry ingredient mixture into the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.

            Fold in the diced apple and ground cinnamon into the batter until evenly distributed.

              Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula. Sprinkle the slivered almonds on top for an added crunch.

                Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
