Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup cornstarch

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

Salt and pepper to taste

Vegetable oil, for frying

1/2 cup honey

2 tablespoons hot sauce (such as sriracha)

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

In a bowl, combine the buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Add the shrimp and let them marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt. This will be the coating for the shrimp.

Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Remove the shrimp from the buttermilk marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.

Carefully place the coated shrimp into the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook for about 2-3 minutes per side or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

In a small saucepan, combine the honey, hot sauce, and apple cider vinegar over medium-low heat. Stir until warmed and well combined.

Drizzle the hot honey sauce over the fried shrimp or toss them in a bowl for even coating.

Serve immediately, garnished with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color.
