Ingredients

1 pound thick-cut bacon

1/4 cup pure maple syrup

1 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup. Place a wire rack on top of the baking sheet to allow for even cooking.

Arrange the bacon strips on the wire rack in a single layer without overlapping.

In a small bowl, mix together the maple syrup, black pepper, cayenne pepper (if using), brown sugar, and smoked paprika until well combined.

Brush the maple mixture generously over the bacon strips, making sure to coat both sides for maximum flavor.

Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and caramelized. Keep an eye on it to avoid burning, as sugar can quickly caramelize.

Once done, remove the bacon from the oven and let it cool on the rack. The bacon will continue to crisp up as it cools.

Serve immediately as a breakfast side, in a salad, or on a sandwich, and enjoy the sweet and savory bliss!
