Ingredients

1 large hoagie roll or Italian sub roll

4 ounces capicola, thinly sliced

4 ounces salami, thinly sliced

4 ounces provolone cheese, sliced

1/2 cup lettuce, shredded

1/2 cup tomato, thinly sliced

1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced

1/4 cup pepperoncini peppers, sliced

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon red wine vinegar (can substitute with apple cider vinegar)

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Start by slicing the hoagie roll in half lengthwise, but do not cut all the way through. Leave a hinge, so it opens like a book.

In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, red wine vinegar (or apple cider vinegar), Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to create a dressing.

Brush the inside of the hoagie roll with half of the dressing.

Layer the capicola slices evenly on the bottom half of the roll, followed by the salami and then the provolone cheese.

Pile on the shredded lettuce, followed by the tomato slices, red onion, and pepperoncini peppers.

Drizzle the remaining dressing over the top layer of veggies for added flavor.

Carefully close the sandwich and press down gently to hold everything in place.

Optional: To enhance the flavors, wrap the sandwich tightly in tin foil and let it sit for about 10 to 15 minutes before serving.

If desired, serve the sandwich cold or grill it for a few minutes on a panini press until the cheese is melted and the bread is crispy.

                    Prep Time: 15 mins | Total Time: 30 mins | Servings: 2

                      - Presentation Tips: Cut the sandwich diagonally into halves and place on a wooden board. Garnish with a few extra pepperoncini and serve with a side of crispy potato chips for an authentic Italian deli experience. Enjoy!
