Ingredients

1 lb ground pork

1/2 lb ground beef

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

2 fresh jalapeños, finely chopped (seeds removed for less heat)

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 large egg

1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional for texture)

Cooking oil for frying

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork and ground beef. Mix until well incorporated.

Add the shredded cheddar cheese, chopped jalapeños, minced garlic, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt to the meat mixture.

Drizzle in the Worcestershire sauce and crack in the egg. If you prefer a firmer patty, add breadcrumbs at this point.

Use your hands or a spatula to mix all ingredients together until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the patties tough.

Form the meat mixture into even-sized patties, about 3 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick. You should get about 8 patties from the mixture.

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add a drizzle of cooking oil. Once hot, add the patties in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.

Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should be 160°F). Adjust the heat as necessary to avoid burning.

Once cooked, remove the patties from the skillet and let them rest on paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
