Ingredients

4 cups water

4 black tea bags (or 4 teaspoons loose black tea)

1 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)

2 tablespoons vanilla extract

2 lemons (1 for juice, 1 for slices)

Fresh mint leaves (for garnish, optional)

Ice cubes

Instructions

In a saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.

Once boiling, remove the pot from heat and add the tea bags or loose tea. Let it steep for about 5-7 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea.

After steeping, remove the tea bags (or strain out the loose tea) and stir in the granulated sugar until completely dissolved.

Add the vanilla extract and the juice of one lemon to the sweetened tea mixture and stir well.

Allow the tea to cool at room temperature for a bit before transferring it to the refrigerator to chill for at least 1-2 hours.

Once the tea is chilled, pour it over ice cubes in tall glasses.

Garnish each glass with a slice of lemon and a sprig of fresh mint if desired.
