Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup packed brown sugar

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)

1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Sea salt, for sprinkling

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Cream the Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract, mixing well after each addition.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt until combined.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.

Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) until evenly distributed.

Scoop the Dough: Using a cookie scoop or spoon, drop heaping tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Sprinkle Sea Salt: Lightly sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over each cookie dough ball for an extra flavor contrast.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the centers look slightly underbaked.

Cool: Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
