Ingredients

1 large green cabbage

1 lb ground beef

1 lb ground pork

1 cup cooked rice

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large egg

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp dried basil

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 cup marinara sauce (plus more for serving)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 tablespoon olive oil

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Cabbage:

    - Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Carefully remove the core of the cabbage and add it to the boiling water. Blanch for about 5-7 minutes, or until the outer leaves are soft. Remove from the pot and let it cool slightly. Carefully peel off the outer layers of the cabbage and set aside; you will use the leaves for wrapping.

      Make the Meatball Mixture:

        - In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, cooked rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and 1 cup marinara sauce. Mix until well combined.

          Stuff the Cabbage:

            - Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Take a cabbage leaf and place about 2-3 tablespoons of the meat mixture in the center. Fold the sides over the filling and roll it up tightly. Repeat until all the meat mixture is used.

              Assemble in Baking Dish:

                - In a large baking dish, spread a little marinara sauce (about 1/2 cup) at the bottom. Place the stuffed cabbage rolls seam-side down in a single layer. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the top and sprinkle shredded mozzarella over the cabbage rolls. Drizzle with olive oil.

                  Bake the Cabbage Roll:

                    - Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

                      Serve:

                        - Carefully remove the stuffed cabbage rolls from the baking dish. Garnish with fresh parsley and additional marinara sauce if desired.
