Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup whole milk, warmed (about 110°F)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup Nutella (for filling)

Oil, for frying

Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

Mix Ingredients: Add the melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract to the yeast mixture. Stir until combined.

Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually sift in the flour and salt, mixing until a sticky dough forms. Knead for 5-7 minutes on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.

First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Shape Donuts: Punch down the risen dough and roll it out to about 1/2 inch thickness. Use a donut cutter or two round cutters to cut out the donuts. Place them on a lined baking sheet.

Second Rise: Cover the shaped donuts with a cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

Fry Donuts: Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Carefully lower the donuts into the hot oil, frying for about 1-2 minutes on each side, until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Fill with Nutella: Once the donuts are cooled slightly, use a piping bag fitted with a small round tip to fill each donut with Nutella. Insert the tip into the side of the donut and squeeze gently.

Dust with Sugar: Finally, dust the filled donuts generously with powdered sugar before serving.
