Ingredients

6 large croissants, cut into chunks

6 large eggs

2 cups whole milk

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup diced cooked ham (or cooked bacon)

1 cup sautéed spinach (optional)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh chives, chopped for garnish

Instructions

Prep the Croissants: In a large mixing bowl, add the croissant chunks and set aside.

Whisk Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well blended.

Layer the Casserole: In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, layer half of the croissant pieces. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the croissants, followed by the diced ham (or bacon) and sautéed spinach, if using. Pour half of the egg mixture over the top.

Repeat the Layers: Add the remaining croissant pieces, then the rest of the cheese. Pour the remaining egg mixture evenly over the top to soak in.

Cover & Refrigerate: Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate overnight. This allows the croissants to soak up the egg mixture.

Preheat & Bake: The next morning, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove the cover from the casserole and bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown in the center.

Cool & Serve: Let the casserole sit for about 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with freshly chopped chives before serving. Enjoy warm!
