Ingredients

250g pappardelle pasta

500g ground beef

100g ground pork

1 cup ricotta cheese

1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded

1 egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 onion, finely chopped

1 cup marinara sauce

1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

Prepare the Meatball Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, ricotta cheese, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Stuff the Meatballs: Take a small amount of the meat mixture (about the size of a golf ball) and flatten it in your palm. Place a teaspoon of mozzarella cheese in the center, then fold the meat around the cheese to create a meatball. Repeat until all the meat mixture is used.

Cook the Meatballs: In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally until they are browned on all sides. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.

Cook the Pappardelle: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and add the pappardelle pasta. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, typically about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside, reserving a little pasta water.

Prepare the Sauce: In the same skillet used for the meatballs, add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Pour in the marinara sauce and bring to a simmer. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of reserved pasta water to thin it out.

Combine Everything: Gently place the meatballs back into the sauce, allowing them to heat through for about 5 minutes. Then, add the cooked pappardelle, tossing it gently in the sauce to combine everything well. If needed, adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.

Serve: Plate the pappardelle topped with meatballs and sauce, then sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.
