Ingredients

4 large russet potatoes, thinly sliced

1 cup smoked sausage, sliced into half-moons

2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup whole milk

2 tablespoons butter

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnishing)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Pour in the heavy cream and milk, stirring frequently until heated through but not boiling.

Season the cream mixture with onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir in 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Remove from heat.

In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes on the bottom. Sprinkle with a layer of smoked sausage slices.

Pour half of the cheese sauce over the potatoes and sausage, spreading evenly.

Repeat the layering with the remaining potatoes, smoked sausage, and cheese sauce.

Top the final layer with the remaining shredded cheddar cheese, ensuring an even coating.

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes.

Remove the foil and return the dish to the oven for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.

Once done, let it cool for about 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley for a pop of color.
