Ingredients

1 pound (450 g) spicy breakfast sausage

1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened

1 (10 oz) can Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies, drained

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Cooking spray

Instructions

Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.

Cook the sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the spicy breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat if necessary.

Mix the filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked sausage, softened cream cheese, drained Rotel tomatoes, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until fully combined and creamy.

Prepare the crescent rolls: Open the can of crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles as per the package instructions.

Fill the crescents: Place a generous spoonful of the sausage and cream cheese mixture at the wide end of each crescent triangle. Sprinkle a little shredded cheddar cheese on top of the filling. Roll the dough tightly, starting from the wide end and finishing at the point. Place each crescent on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the crescents are golden brown and puffed.

Garnish and serve: Once baked, remove the crescents from the oven and let them cool for a minute. Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro before serving.

Enjoy! Serve warm as an appetizer or a delightful snack during game day or a gathering.
