Ingredients

1 lb flank steak

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

4 slices of crusty bread (like ciabatta or baguette)

1 cup fresh arugula

1 medium tomato, sliced

½ red onion, thinly sliced

For the Garlic Aioli:

½ cup mayonnaise

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Garlic Aioli: In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, and Dijon mustard. Stir until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside in the refrigerator to let the flavors meld.

Marinate the Steak: In a shallow dish, place the flank steak. Drizzle with olive oil and Worcestershire sauce, then sprinkle generously with salt and pepper. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes at room temperature for enhanced flavor.

Cook the Steak: Preheat a grill or stovetop skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated flank steak. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness is reached. Remove from heat and allow to rest for 5 minutes.

Slice the Steak: After resting, thinly slice the steak against the grain to maximize tenderness.

Toast the Bread: While the steak rests, toast your bread slices on the grill or in a toaster until golden and crispy.

Assemble the Sandwiches: Spread a generous layer of garlic aioli on one side of each slice of toasted bread. Layer the sliced steak, followed by fresh arugula, tomato slices, and red onion on top. Cap with another slice of bread, aioli side down.

Serve: Slice the sandwich in half diagonally and serve immediately.
