Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 ½ cups granulated sugar

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup milk

3 large eggs

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ teaspoon salt

1 ½ cups fresh strawberries, pureed

1 cup sliced fresh strawberries (for layering)

1 cup heavy whipping cream

2 tablespoons powdered sugar (for the whipped cream)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for the whipped cream)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract and strawberry puree.

In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined and smooth.

Divide the batter equally between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

While the cakes are cooling, prepare the whipped cream by beating heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.

Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of whipped cream over the top, then add half of the sliced strawberries.

Place the second cake layer on top and spread the remaining whipped cream on the top and sides of the cake.

Decorate the top with the remaining sliced strawberries for a beautiful presentation.
