Ingredients

For the Dough:

2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)

¾ cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)

⅓ cup granulated sugar

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

3 ½ - 4 cups all-purpose flour

½ tsp salt

For the Filling:

1 cup cream cheese, softened

⅓ cup powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup fresh strawberries, diced

1 tsp lemon juice

For the Cream Cheese Glaze:

½ cup cream cheese, softened

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tbsp milk

½ tsp vanilla extract

Optional: additional strawberries for topping

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

    - In a small bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.

      - In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the remaining sugar, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Add in the yeast mixture.

        - Gradually stir in 3 ½ cups of flour and salt, kneading until a soft dough forms, adding more flour as necessary. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

          - Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

            Prepare the Filling:

              - In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, diced strawberries, and lemon juice. Mix until well combined and smooth.

                Assemble the Rolls:

                  - Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle (about 12x18 inches).

                    - Spread the cream cheese filling evenly over the dough, then roll the dough tightly from the long side into a log.

                      - Cut the log into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish. Cover and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes.

                        Bake the Rolls:

                          - Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Once the rolls have risen, bake them in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

                            Make the Glaze:

                              - While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze by mixing the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.

                                Serve:

                                  - Once the rolls are baked, allow them to cool slightly before drizzling the cream cheese glaze over them. Top with additional diced strawberries if desired.
